Enfranchise

Definition of Enfranchise:

give the right to vote; to free a slave.

Paragraph:

Women were enfranchised in the 1920's.  This means they were given the right to vote.  Slaves didn't become enfranchised until the 13th Amendment was passed.  These are great historic events because without them we wouldn't be where we are today.
